Τολέδο , βρίσκεται 70 χλμ περίπου έξω από την Μαδρίτη και στις όχθες του ποταμού Τάγου , μία πανέμορφη πόλη που σε γυρίζει πίσω στα χρόνια του μεσαίωνα . Μια ολόκληρη πόλη μουσείο ιστορίας και αρχιτεκτονικής. Το όνομα του Τολέδου προέρχεται από τη λατινική ονομασία Toletum, δηλαδή πόλη με τα τείχη . Από τα χρόνια του μεσαίωνα εως την νεότερη εποχή φημιζόταν για την παραγωγή των καλύτερων σπαθιών και άλλων χειροποίητων καλλιτεχνημάτων. Το Τολέδο υπήρξε επίσης μεγάλο μεταφραστικό κέντρο κατά τον μεσαίωνα . Από το 1986, περιλαμβάνεται στον κατάλογο των μνημείων παγκόσμιας πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της Unesco . Το 1577 στο Τολέδο εγκαταστάθηκε και έζησε τα τελευταία του 37 χρόνια ο Έλληνας ζωγράφος , γλύπτης και αρχιτέκτονας Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος , με καταγωγή από το Ηράκλειο της Κρήτης , γνωστός και ως El Greco ( ο Έλληνας) . Η επιρροή του Έλληνα καλλιτέχνη στη πόλη είναι αρκετά εμφανής , ξεκινώντας από την νεότερη πόλη και ανηφορίζοντας προς την παλιά δεσπόζει η είσοδος με χαραγμένο το όνομά του σε Ελληνική γραφή .Το Τολέδο είναι η πόλη που έχει τιμήσει περισσότερο αυτόν τον μεγάλο Έλληνα καλλιτέχνη και το αποδεικνύει σε κάθε της γωνιά , όπου σταθείς και όπου γυρίσει το βλέμμα σου , βλέπεις το όνομά του χαραγμένο παντού , όπως επίσης και τα έργα του . Αν κάποιος πάει μέχρι την Μαδρίτη το θεωρώ επιβεβλημένο να επισκεφτεί αυτή την πανέμορφη πόλη, να περπατήσει στα σοκάκια της και να μεταφερθεί νοητά στα χρόνια του μεσαίωνα .
